178. Nirbhedā
Nirbhedā reveals the Divine Mother as the indivisible and non-dual Reality beyond all distinctions and separations. The name teaches that beneath the diversity of forms, identities, and experiences lies a single Consciousness that remains forever one, whole, and undivided.
Nirbhedā (निर्भेदा)
This is the 178th name of the Lalitā Sahasranāma.
Having revealed the Divine Mother as Nirābādhā, the Reality that can never be disturbed, contradicted, or negated, the Sahasranāma now unveils one of the purest expressions of non-duality:
Nirbhedā — She who is without division, distinction, difference, or separateness.
The Divine Mother is not composed of parts, nor is She divided into categories or boundaries. She is the indivisible Reality in which all apparent distinctions arise and dissolve.

Each wave appears distinct.
Yet every wave is nothing but water.
The distinction exists at one level.

Why is Consciousness Nirbhedā?
Because Consciousness is not divided by the objects appearing within it.
Thoughts differ.
Experiences differ.
Bodies differ.
Minds differ.
Yet the Awareness in which all are known remains indivisible.
Just as one space appears to be divided by walls without actually being divided, Consciousness appears as many without ever becoming many.

Difference requires boundaries.
A thing can be different only if it is separated from something else.
But what boundary can be drawn around infinite Consciousness?
Where would it end?
Where would something else begin?
Therefore the Absolute is Nirbhedā.

a body,
a group,
a belief,
an identity.
From this arise division and opposition.

Differences continue to appear.
Yet beneath all diversity lies a single, indivisible reality.
To recognize this is not to erase individuality but to see it in proper perspective.
Like countless ornaments fashioned from one gold, all beings are expressions of one Consciousness.
When this truth is glimpsed, compassion naturally deepens, fear diminishes, and the heart begins to rest in unity rather than division.
